	There is something like this now...the JQML library which supports
	the Quantity a component of scientific data models. This library has been 
	designed to support the creation of scientific data models, and has been 
	shown to support the VO Quantity, and a version of VO Catalog and 1.20 
	version of STC. Furthermore, in the dim past I have also gotten it to work 
	on parsing an instance of the SSA. It works with Crimson and the Xerces 
	(2) parsers and is written in Java. The various software is available via:

	and is LGPL licensed.
