The VOEvent II workshop will be in the Main Conference Room of NOAO
headquarters:
National Optical Astronomy Observatory
950 N Cherry Ave.
Tucson, AZ 85719
If you have questions, email me or contact Kathy Glockner, our
Administrative Coordinator, at 520.318.8302. Over the weekend you
can reach me at home at 520.882.8486.
There is a link to a map on the workshop twiki:

Directions from the airport to NOAO HQ are something like: Take the
only exit out of the airport and go straight until you turn right on
Kino Parkway; remain on Kino for several miles until you turn left
into the main entrance of the University of Arizona; turn right on
Cherry and right again into the NOAO visitors (hourly) parking lot.
But of course you'll be coming from your hotel. The Sheraton Four
Points and the University Marriott are close enough such that walking
to the meeting is your best option. If you are staying somewhere
else and need to park, use the lot on Second Street ($7/day) west of
NOAO by a couple of blocks on the University of Arizona Campus. The
UA has a lot of parking garages (one of which sits on the site of my
previous house), so you'll want the right one:

The entrance to the NOAO building faces west on Cherry Ave. As you
might expect, that implies we're on the east side of the street. The
building opposite is Steward Observatory. Nice people, but not your
desired destination. Enter the NOAO portal and you'll find yourself
sequestered in the NOAO lobby. A keycard or a gullible employee is
needed to breach security. If you hit it right you'll be able to
sneak through the door and follow the inadequate signage to the Main
Conference Room. Ask some nice staffer if you get lost. If you
can't escape the lobby on your own, pick up the phone and dial
extension x8302 to talk to Kathy.
Attendees remaining through to Wednesday may want to get a keycard to
allow after hours access, talk to Kathy about this. Most won't need
such, but with a keycard you'd have access to the ethernet, wireless,
library, etc. 24/7. Photocopying your Great American Novel would be
frowned upon.
Pastries and coffee will be available in the morning starting at 8:00
or 8:30. Lunch is provided at noon on Monday and Tuesday - we'll
fend for ourselves from local restaurants on Wednesday. The workshop
dinner is on Monday at 7:00 pm. There is a map on the twiki. We're
relying on a self-organizing carpool to get everybody there. It's
about a mile-and-a-half walk if all else fails - not quite as
picturesque a walk as Pasadena, but you'd have to be truly unlucky to
get mugged.
Looking forward to seeing those of you who manage to complete the
journey.
