Open Annotation Data Model (with HDF examples)

Anyone know anything about about the Open Annotation Data Model work 
that's coming out of LANL? The guide [1] uses information about the HDF 
as a their primary example.

although each time I go to 2 it also seems to download a PDF, which is a 
tad annoying.
