   Hello Olga,

   I think this is just the base URL for the OAI-PMH access to the
registry, so you need to complement the URL with the proper
parameters, like :
http://vao.stsci.edu/directory/oai.aspx?verb=Identify
   Without parameters, you get an xml file with OAI error
(which is normal behaviour).

   There are OAI-PMH validators you can use, for example :
http://re.cs.uct.ac.za/

   By the way, this validator complains about the returned XML,
I guess this is because the xsi:schemaLocation are missing in
the <ri:Resource> element and it can't find the schemata.
