Slots in Kyoto

<<data replication, mirrors, etc.>>

Get thee behind me, ... :)

Okay, let's start the discussion at Kyoto.

<<registry replication (e.g. how to indicate a failover to use in case the
main one is not available).>>

Since, at the moment, all 'full' registries are expected to be the same by
harvesting from each other, failover is simply to switch to another one -
apps will need to keep a list of alternatives (got from the registry while
it is available) on hand.

But we can discuss mechanisms during the 'interface' session.

Cheers,
Tony.

	Hi Tony,
two more things for the discussion:

	*	data replication, mirrors, etc.;
	*	registry replication (e.g. how to indicate a failover to use
in case the main one is not available).

Other possible worthwhile points (by Kevin):

How many (half-day) sessions will we need in Kyoto?
And are
			there any other
workgroups we do NOT want to clash with?

Last year we had three sessions. This year I'd
suggest the same with a
			preliminary agenda of:

			 Session 1: Registering applications
			          + other Registry extensions/amendments
			 Session 2: Registry interface
			          + Registry Query
			 Session 3: Registry data model
			          + Registering data quality 'indicators'
			          + Plans for V1.0

We can draw up the final agenda later but would
welcome ideas
			for other
topics. One thing I'd like to hear about is how
people have
			constructed
interfaces to make registering resources easier (or
			completely automated).

And which other workgroup sessions should we avoid?
As a
			workgroup, I'd
suggest we should attend the DM Catalogue model
session. Any others
important to the workgroup as a whole?

(Personally I'd like to attend the VOQL session but
don't think it is
			critical to the workgroup.)

			Cheers,
			Tony.
