 From a moderator point of view I have to defend those who are posting:

The IVOA mailing lists are primarily intended for those who actively work on a 
certain aspect and this is the way the keep the discussion open.

If your main interested is to be kept informed please look at the relevant mail 
archive (now updated hourly): http://www.ivoa.net/forum/registry/

To keep your mailbox clean one can create a mail filter on some_list at ivoa.net 
or even unsubscribe - there's always the mail archive.

Major news will eventually make it to the twiki page 
http://www.ivoa.net/twiki/bin/view/IVOA/IvoaResReg or to the global list 
<interop at ivoa.net>.

Everybody who was registered once is able to post to any list - so, 
registration to an individual list is not mandatory for being able to post.
