Dear colleagues,

I would like you to consider the participation on the EWASS Symposium on
Astroinformatics (see below), namely if you are from Europe. The Virtual
observatory is not explicitely stated here, but its need as part of bigger
picture of future astronomy will be presented (at least) in talk of Mark
Allen and Enrique Solano.

Dear All,

This is the announcement of the Symposium about Astroinformatics, named "From
Big Data to understanding the Universe at Large", which will take place within
the EAS European Week of Astronomy and Space Science (EWASS) in Prague, Czech
Republic, 26 - 30 June 2017.

The meeting will take two days 29th-30th June 2017 as a
Full EWASS Science Symposium no. S14

http://eas.unige.ch/EWASS/session.jsp?year=2017&id=S14

Registration is handled directly through the EWASS pages at

http://eas.unige.ch/EWASS2017/registration.jsp

with early registration closing 28 Apr 2017. (After that date - the
registration fee rises - details on the registration page).

Unfortunately the deadline for abstracts is defined by EWASS organizers much
earlier on 8th March ! However some minor flexibility is possible, but the
most of the process is run by commercial company Kuoni and our SOC cannot
influence this.

So don't count on their benevolence and, please, submit ASAP your abstract into
the EWASS system (which keeps track of abstracts across all the various
meetings going on that week). You'll find this page at

http://eas.unige.ch/EWASS2017/abstract_submission.jsp

The topics listed on S14 web page are not restricted for only astronomers but
relevant contributions from computer scientists or Earth observation scientists
will be considered for presentation as well.

The European astronomers, computer scientists and Earth observation community
may be interested to know, that the symposium S14 is prepared in collaboration
with European COST transdisciplinary action TD1403 - BIG SKY EARTH and during
the EWASS there will be arranged a COST workgroups meeting focused on common
problems of Earth observation and astronomy induced by the need of extracting
scientific knowledge in the era of Big Data.

We hope to see you soon at this exciting and inspiring event in Prague !

Sorry for cross-posting, if you get this info multiple times through different
channels.
