LIGO is seeking a developer with a strong background in scientific data,
web technology, programming, and databases. Strong communication skills
and Unix skills are essential. Experience with large data sets is a
strong plus.

There will be opportunity to work directly with LIGO data and contribute
directly to the detection and study of gravitational waves with the LIGO
Scientific Collaboration.

The successful candidate will work with the LOSC development team in the
creation, deployment, and support of software and systems behind LOSC's
web presence. These involve terabyte-scale data with complex metadata
such as quality measures and calibration, as well as "big data"
technical challenges. The successful candidate will have a passion for
creating systems that are reliable and easy to use, the ability to
interpret customer needs into clean, efficient and intuitive solutions,
and the ability to balance the demands of a dynamic working environment
with multiple overlapping projects. Some travel (meetings, conferences)
will be required.
