GGF directory-service spec

Hi,

in respect of VOSpace, we should be aware what GGF are doing.  We may need to
interoperate with GGF-style grids (which might mean that we have to provide
interfaces to their specs), and we might want to steal their ideas.

The Grid File System group (GFS-WG) of GGF has an architecture and a mature
spec for a directory service.  Please see
