Dear Pierre,

I would welcome a discussion on the use of identifiers within the IVOA
and their relationships with archival systems and wider standards such
as DOIs, URNs, etc. At ADASS I briefly spoke to Ray Plante about IVOA
identifiers and (I think) we both agreed that it would be good to have a
discussion about their current and future use for describing both
services and data products.

Pierre, could you prepare some slides describing your approach for the
DC&P session (wednesday afternoon)?

Ray, would you be willing to say a few words about the use (and abuse)
of IVOA identifiers in the registry and how they relate to other
standards? You have probably seen Norman Gray's note about Long-term
URIs [1] so I think this discussion would be timely. I can chime in
about the experience we've had in the US within the ADEC group and the
recent developments within DataCite.

Thanks,
-- Alberto
