Not that I do not know too much about DOIs, but aren't these designed to be
accessed by something that is more standardised and thus somehow more
machine-readable, with a view to accessibility and long-term stability,
such as "doi:10.18727/docs/1"?

This might suggest an optional column to 'TAP_SCHEMA.tables' specifically
for DOIs, however, there is already the more general "altIdentifier"
in VOResource version 1.1 -- I guess this "prior art" could be taken
into account for this requirement.
