Because it defines the syntax of a language with literal values, the ADQL spec
does explicitly specify how numbers can be expressed... so there is a
precedent for individual specs to do this.
In general I agree that all those examples should work, including scientific
notation.
PS-I don't think the extra letter on the end that some languages permit
(sometimes require) to tell the compiler the data type of a primitive (e.g.
1000L for long as opposed to int) should be permitted/used.
