sampjs - IE8+ exceptions

Dear Mark and Web Samp profile developers,

within the Science Archives Team at ESAC we are making use of the 
samp.js library to have the Science Archives accessible via Web SAMP. We 
have found exceptions with Internet Explorer 8 and 9, and then we have 
seen that these exceptions are occurring at the examples shown at the 
project's page (http://astrojs.github.io/sampjs/).

On Internet Explorer 8.0, for example "Sender" 
(http://astrojs.github.io/sampjs/examples/send.html). See the exceptions 
in the attached screenshot:

1) On loading the Web page:
Access is denied. samp.js, line 497 character 13.

2) On clicking on the "Send It!" button:
Object expected. samp.js, line 1181 character 13.

In particular, we got the same "Access denied" message on our archives 
using the samp.js library,  when performing a samp.ping() to find out if 
a web profile hub is running.

Has anyone experienced the same? Can anyone provide us with some hints 
on this?
