And I did a similar thing -- schema to API -- using generateDS, which makes python code from XML schema:

Perhaps it is more advanced now and can handle STC, but it did not work back then.

This certainly brings up memories. I stripped the schema then used Liquid to build a C# object API for my projects here. Yes, schema to API is a good thing period, and stripping STC is also a good thing in my opinion (I'm an engineer not a scientist (ha ha).
