At the 2005 NVO Summer School we implemented a signed VOEvent
in a day by using XML signature tools pulled off the net.
There were at least two viable implementations of code that
would take an unsigned XML document and apply a signature of
a cryptographic certificate to a hash of the intial XML.

In that case we did not hack the VOEvent packet itself, but
rather we created an envelope which contained the VOEvent
and a W3C Signature.
