As I mentioned previously, not all event bundles will include IRFs but may instead include other data products that may be used to construct an IRF.
The 1st draft of the HE ObsCore document suggests “response” instead of “irf” as a dataproduct_type, as response is a more general term (even across HE projects, the term IRF is not universally used). “Response” is widely applicable across multiple wavebands. For example, a point spread function is a type of response that is used across all wavebands. Similarly, line spread function is a response used in UV through IR spectroscopy. Given the broadness of the scope of response it’s not clear that it should be tied to event-bundle for consideration.
The 1st draft of the HE ObsCore document proposes several additional dataproduct_types that are needed for advanced data products that certainly have broader scope than just HE.

Also as noted previously, we want the ability to be able to discover responses independently from other associated data products. While responses may be linked to an event bundle using datalink, this will not always be the case.
