Trusty URIs, identifiers, and provenance

Just came across this paper and presentation about making web-based
resources identified by URIs "verifiable, immutable, and permanent," and I
thought it might be of interest to the list:

Not that this should settle any of the debates we are having with
identifiers, but this is where the W3C may be going with respect to linked
data persistency.
