From msdemlei at ari.uni-heidelberg.de Tue Aug 27 09:10:13 2024 From: msdemlei at ari.uni-heidelberg.de (Markus Demleitner) Date: Tue, 27 Aug 2024 09:10:13 +0200 Subject: Patterns for Table Registration Message-ID: <20240827071013.3v65adcuvra5ctku@victor> Dear Registry community, In February, I had promised to say a bit more about patterns for registering Table-like resources (like Obscore, EPN-TAP, ObsLocTAP, RegTAP, etc) when a respective draft note would be a bit further on . This had some urgency because the Obscore part of this endeavour is important for global dataset discovery. Well, for some reason I was convinced I already had sought further input and took the lack of feedback for general consensus. Ahem. Thus deluded, I went ahead and uploaded the Note "TableReg: Registering TAP-Queriable Tables Conforming to Standard Schemas"; it is now at. As a Note is just an expression of opinion, there's no harm done I guess, but let me now ask you to: (a) Review the content of the note; totally feel free to create bugs or PRs at https://github.com/ivoa/TableReg for things that appear not profound enough for this mailing list; feedback of a more general nature, however, would be more welcome here, where more eyes see it. (b) If you run an Obscore service or know people who do, please try and create a TableReg record (see sect. 5) for it. Oh, and publish it. For efficient global discovery over Obscore, it is really important to have these records, and the sooner they show up for the "big" obscore tables the better. Thanks! Markus
