Dear Tess and Registry WG members

We’re having some changes of people to take care of the Euro-VO Registry, with Mattias Wångblad in cc taking over the operations, maintenance and development of the Euro-VO Registry. Mattias has been involved for some time in ESASky and has participated to some IVOA meetings, so he already knows our IVOA community 😊.

So if you want, we could have a short presentation (10-15 minutes) on Euro-VO Registry status and plans (Arviset, Wångblad).

Thanks in advance

Cheers

Christophe

Hello Registry WG members,

As we presume you know, the IVOA Northern Fall Interop is in the works (see https://indico.ict.inaf.it/e/ivoa/interop-oct-2022<https://eur05.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Findico.ict.inaf.it%2Fe%2Fivoa%2Finterop-oct-2022&data=05%7C01%7CChristophe.Arviset%40esa.int%7C1eba3436982843344fed08da973bb628%7C9a5cacd02bef4dd7ac5c7ebe1f54f495%7C0%7C0%7C637988579953602156%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000%7C%7C%7C&sdata=WZgDU5Ppn64AStpI1fKTjNi7Jw345diXw1SQ0P2%2F7lc%3D&reserved=0>). The Registry WG will have a session as usual, so we are now soliciting input such as short presentations that you wish to make and/or topics you wish to raise for discussion. Below we include the road map and some names in bold who might have something to contribute on that topic.

Please note that there will be a VO in the Cloud session to address a number of topics related to new technologies including cloud data access, JSON formats, etc. You may also send suggestions and presentations for that session to us (Tess and Renaud) or to Apps or GWS (particularly for cloud-related topics) and the TCG will coordinate the session contents.

Cheers,
Tess and Renaud for the Registry Working Group

--- Registry roadmap:

  1. Expand registry search in pyvo for simplified data discovery options as proposed in pyVO PR #289 and test backward compatibility of search changes, document with new example notebook(s) [Tess+NAVO?, Markus Demleitner?]

  1. Start implementing space-time coverage in registries as described in VODataService-1.2, pending approval of the PRs: DALI 1.2 (for MOC serialization) and RegTAP 1.2 (for the stc_spatial table) [Markus?]
  2.
  3. Investigate better inclusion of authoring data in the Registry resources (especially for tables) in order to improve automatic citation [Gilles Landais?]
  4.
  5. Coordinate with Ops IG to continue ongoing validation and curation efforts among registry maintainers, resource curators, and validator and standards authors [Tess?, ?]
  6.
  7. Investigate registering more documentation and tutorial notebooks. Explore takeup and usefulness [Hendrik Heinl?]
