Registry query language

What form should the registry query language take?

As I see it we have two choices:

1. an xml form of SQL (as for ADQL in the SkyNode document)
2. Xquery

The first is something that people are used to but is difficult to map to
structured xml schemas (whereas ADQL is mainly querying single tables).

The second is more difficult to construct but much easier to execute on data
stored as xml.

What do people think?
