agenda for Strasbourg interop workshop

We need to agree an agenda for the Registry interop session on Thu Oct 16th,
10:30-12:30 (see below), so I'd like to suggest the following...

First items on the agenda will be to agree the two formal submissions to the
group:

1. Resource identifier:
This may need to take in some of the issues currently being discussed on the
list wrt identity of non-registered entities and interaction with publishing
organisations but I hope this can be resolved beforehand on the list.

2. The two documents describing registry metadata in textual form:
and in schema form:
There is a structural mismatch between the two since the second was devised
after the first with the goal of devising a more extensible structure but it
should have the same content as the first. Agreement on these would
precipitate a combined v0.9 RM plus schema.

Secondly, we need to address other issues of interoperability which must be
standardised before we can deliver the promised fully interoperable Jan
demos.

3. Registry call interface:
    - what are the minimum methods that a registry service must provide
    - how are these described
    - what 'language' is used to query a registry

4. Replication/Harvesting:
    - how does a registry harvest metadata from cooperating services
    - how does a registry replicate its metadata to other registries

Finally we need to identify what is necessary from the other interop working
groups to enable the Jan demos to proceed:

5. Calls for other standards:
    - what methods should a sky service provide as a minimum
    - ...

Given that we only have two hours I doubt we could tackle any other issues
in the time allowed (unless we can resolve some of the above on the list
beforehand). Can anyone suggest other issues?

Format of the meeting:

Again, given the short duration, we won't have time for detailed
presentations or papers so I'd like to suggest that anyone who wants their
views to be considered in a session should submit the paper to the list
before the meeting (pref by 8th Oct).

I'd like to suggest the following people kick off the sessions above with a
*short* presentation of the topic and issues and then lead the discussion,
producing a couple of slides of summary for me to present at the final
plenary:

10:30 Ray: Resource identifier

11:00 Bob: Resource metadata & schema

11:30 Elizabeth: Registry call interface

11:50 Keith: Replication/Harvesting

12:10 Tony: Other standards

How does this sound to everyone?

Cheers,
Tony.
