Lastest design docs

[Keith Noddle]

Attached please find the design docs I promised to create for further
discussion. These are a series of pictures (GIFs) and XSD schema based
upon the discussions in the mailing list. These have been uploaded to
the Wiki (with apologies and thanks to Marco) in some sort of order.
