definition of registry

Does the IVOA have an official (or at least agreed) definition of
"registry"?  If so, what is it? I was asked for a definition by Prof. Len
Culhane, the MSSL lab director.

This is what I have:

Registry: (noun) a dynamically updatable database containing metadata
about and contained by resources available to a grid. A single registry
may be one of a network of mutually queriable registries.

I think I must have been a lawyer in a past life.
