Sorry for the voice problems with my laptop. As you mentioned, Janet, I’m working at the ESAC SCIENCE DATA CENTRE (ESDC) here at ESAC, and part of my work involves providing support for the common libraries used by the various scientific archives to implement the VO services: UWS, TAP, DataLink, etc. Most of these services are central to our archives, not only for providing access to the external community but also for the internal communication between the different parts of the system.

One of my main interests is to facilitate the evolution and adoption of new standards that may come from IVOA, and OpenAPI is, in my opinion, the way to go for us. However, I must confess this is also a challenge for us. Our current library is quite complex as it needs to meet the requirements of very different archives and hardware environments. We are already in a significant refactorization phase that includes upgrading the Java version, fully adopting the Spring framework, implementing new authorization mechanisms, making the service stateless, and using the OpenAPI specification, which is just one more step in our path.

We’ll try to stay focused and be useful for the team as soon as possible. If not providing new ideas, maybe we can serve as testbeds and provide experience on what works and what doesn't in the adoption of the new way to work in a medium-sized Java codebase.
