Logistics for attendees of both ADASS and IVOA in Perth in November 2026

Hi all,

Just a heads-up for anyone attending both ADASS and the IVOA Interop meeting in Perth this November: the two meetings will be at different venues.

• ADASS will be at the University of Western Australia (Crawley campus)

• the IVOA Interoperability meeting will be at the Bentley Technology Hub (nearer to Curtin University)

These aren’t within walking distance of each other, so if you’re attending both, it’s worth thinking ahead about accommodation. Our suggestion is to book somewhere in central Perth (downtown) for the whole trip, and catch the bus out to whichever venue you need each day. Both venues are a reasonably easy bus ride from the city. This saves you from having to switch accommodation partway through, and staying in the city is generally a nicer base anyway (more food/transport options, etc.).

If you’d rather switch accommodation to be closer to each venue for its respective week, that’s obviously an option too! I'm just flagging that a single central-Perth base is probably the more convenient (and pleasant) choice.

More details about particular bus routes for each venue will be sent shortly, along with other information (registration, etc).

Cheers,

Simon
