A reminder that registration for the May 2024 IVOA Interop to be held in Sydney is open!

The meeting website can be found here: https://rds.org.au/events/ivoa-2024/ with the registration page here https://rds.org.au/events/ivoa-2024/registration/

Venue information for early meetings such as the Protocol Transitioning Tiger team<https://wiki.ivoa.net/twiki/bin/view/IVOA/DALGWSTigerTeam> (16/17 May) is now available and will by on the meeting program soon, and will be in the same venue as the main meeting. We are also considering making a meeting space available for Saturday 18 May; please contact me if you require this. Alternatively, there are several cafes in Macquarie Shopping Centre across the road from the University (and next to the metro station) that might make for a more pleasant meeting!

Thanks,
Simon
On behalf of the LOC

Some additional logistical information
The 2024 Sydney Interop will be held on the main campus of Macquarie University, which is about 20km north-west of Central Sydney (Opera House, Harbour Bridge etc). It is accessible via Metro and bus from the surrounding area. The Metro line runs from the outer suburbs of Sydney through Macquarie University and then to Chatswood. There are connecting trains to the city from Chatswood. Within the downtown area, the light rail is a quick and easy way to get from one end to the other.

There is a lot of accommodation in the nearby suburbs of Macquarie Park, North Ryde and Chatswood (all on the same Metro line). Prices start at around $200-$250AUD (~120-150 Euros) per night. We recommend sites like Booking.com to search for the whole range of accommodation. If you are looking for accommodation close to the venue, then the Mercure Macquarie Park or Meriton Suites North Ryde are both within 15 minutes walk of the venue and are reasonably priced.

There are plenty of dining options in Chatswood, and some in North Ryde. Alternatively, there are many dining options near Sydney Town Hall (about 25-30 minutes by direct train from Chatswood), in particular in the Chinatown district. Circular Quay and The Rocks are also good options, and the latter is the oldest part of Sydney. There are several pubs in The Rocks that are coming up to 200 years old.
