Hello,
The CDS is hiring a software developer (M,F) in the frame of the
European project ASTERICS (https://www.asterics2020.eu/).
(remark: in France the salary is strongly linked to the degree, the
indicated basis is for a master degree, for a PhD it is for example from
1900 euros net / month)

Context
The Strasbourg Astronomical Data Center (CDS) manages large databases
that serve as a reference for the international astronomical community.
The CDS develops online services that provide access to these databases
and exploit them (http://cds.unistra.fr/). CDS's users include space
agencies (the European Space Agency (ESA) and NASA), the main
observatories, such as the European Southern Observatory (ESO), and all
the astrophysical research institutes with an observational component.
The CDS also has, in-house, a strong activity of R&D and development of
tools essential to the daily work of the team.
The CDS participates in many international projects including the
ASTERICS European project and the candidate will be recruited within the
framework of this project.
Mission
As member of a team of software engineers, documentalists and
astronomers, you are responsible for developments within the framework
of the European project ASTERICS (H2020).
Activities
- Participation in the analysis
- Python development and integration of external tools
- Javascript development of the user interface
- Regular exchanges with internal and external people
- In-depth tests and documentation of developments
Skills
- Proven experience in Python development
- Knowledge and practice of Web development technologies
- Appreciated knowledge of Python Notebook
- Ability to structure the work and to integrate tools and libraries
where possible
- Knowledge in databases
- English read and ability to present a work
- Technical collaborations in English for the European project
- Human skills
