Dear HEIG / reviewing our obscore extension
use cases validation
Last Sunday at Interop, during the Document and Standard Process
discussion, there was an interesting discussion about validations of
standards in the RFC period.
Many details about a model come during the implementation phase.
This feedback from the concrete usage of data model features helps to
finalise the model design and
to prioritise the features we want to
have in the TAP implementation.
Tom Donaldson proposed to facilitate the TCG review of a new VO standard
specification by
1- setting up a validator to see how many use cases are covered by the
proposed solution.
2- allowing people to check the use case coverage on some precise
example data sets .
I think this is a good idea .
I suggest we share example data on the git hub repo for the note or on a
wiki page and show datasets of different kinds, namely the new ones not
present in ObsCore .
We can have only the link url to the data sets , and a short description
of the content .
This would help us to clarify how the draws , pdf , regions, etc. are
built and related to other data .
By this way all HEIG members and other IVOA contributors could see the
kind of data
we want to distribute with the HE ObsTAP prototype we want
to build.
This would also ease the TCG review later on.
What is your opinion about it?
Would you agree on this ?
Best wishes, Mireille.
