I think this is great and as you know MAST/GALEX discovered this
the hard way. Advertising the existence of mirrors for these kind of
services should be done regularly.<br>

It has never been published but since last year, CDS SOAP Web Services are
available from CDS, CFA, CADC and ADAC.
These services use as much as possible local resources like VizieR mirror.
So if consumers implement an alternative access to a few clones they will have a
good availability guarantee.
