Just back from holidays...

I do not know what is the compatility level of the schematron against xsd1.1. Google is not very talkative on the topic either :-)
I went to XSD1.1 just because this did the job in an easy way and with one document only.
If using the Schematron does facilitate the validation, we can go in that direction anyway.
