From msdemlei at ari.uni-heidelberg.de Fri Jan 30 10:01:16 2026 From: msdemlei at ari.uni-heidelberg.de (Markus Demleitner) Date: Fri, 30 Jan 2026 10:01:16 +0100 Subject: Referencing software in Registry relationships Message-ID: Dear Registry, dear DCP, [DCP because of identifier schemes] During DocRegExt RFC, Gilles has made the point that machine-readably declaring what tools a tutorial (or whatever) uses would be desirable. I have avoided this topic because software registration has been a painful topic each time it has come up in Registry. But in the current context, it occurred to me that ASCL is there (and has been there for a long time) and is probably enough to cover that particular use case. I have thus created this bug against DocRegExt: . If nobody has strong objections against it, I'd amend DocRegExt (and also VOResource, which lists canonical URI schemes in altIdentifier) some time next week. So... are there objections? Or is there support for the idea? Thanks, Markus
