From gregory.mantelet at astro.unistra.fr Wed Sep 4 15:25:46 2024 From: gregory.mantelet at astro.unistra.fr (Gregory MANTELET) Date: Wed, 4 Sep 2024 15:25:46 +0200 Subject: PEN: UDF catalogue 1.2 Message-ID: <9cdc49c6-f33c-4324-9a75-de962098c51f@astro.unistra.fr> Dear DAL members, This is a quick announcement for a minor revision of the UDF Catalogue Proposed Endorsed Note - version 1.2. This PEN is now released and may become an Endorsed Note at the next TCG meeting. So, if this is of some interest for you, please have a review very soon as it may be voted at the next TCG meeting. For questions and comments, Markus and Jon will be glad to collect and answer to them. For reminder, this note aims to gather ADQL user defined functions recommended by the IVOA. Such functions must be implemented by at least two implementations in order to appear in this note. Those functions are prefixed by `ivo_`. ADQL/TAP service providers are strongly encouraged to follow the definition of functions listed there for a given feature if already covered by a function of this document. The goal is to prevent the dissemination of variations of similar functions by defining a single function signature and behavior. Example of UDF already endorsed: `ivo_healpix_index(hpxOrder, long, lat)`. The previous version was EN-1.1 and was released on the 10th of October 2023. In this PEN-1.2 /(see the IVOA doc. version - https://ivoa.net/documents/udf-catalogue/20240807/ - which matches the version on GitHub )/, Jon and Markus have added the following functions: - `ivo_epoch_prop` and `ivo_geom_transform` as astrometry function - `ivo_simbadpoint` as convenience function - `ivo_normal_random` as a statistics function - `ivo_to_jd` and `ivo_to_mjd` as a datetime functions - `ivo_hms_to_degrees` and `ivo_dms_to_degrees` as a celestial conversion functions Cheers, Gr?gory and Joshua -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Sorry for this mistake. `ivo_epoch_prop` is not yet part of the UDF Catalogue. This is the subject of the frozen PullRequest #20 . I should have been more careful when sending this email. Remote attendance will also be supported. We invite you to contribute to the DAL session with a DAL related topic. For reminder, DAL stands for Data Access Layer. This Working Group aims to define standards and protocols to access data in an interoperable way. Here are few examples of well-known DAL standards: (Simple) Cone Search, SIA (image access), SSA (spectra access), TAP (Table Access Protocol) and ADQL (SQL-like language to query a database). The full list of DAL standards is available on the IVOA Documents page . During this interop., you can contribute, remotely or in-person, with a talk presenting implementations, sharing your experience as user, presenting and discussing progress on a DAL standards, or presenting use-cases. If you are interested, please send your contribution (with a speaker name, a title, and ideally an abstract) to gregory.mantelet at astro.unistra.fr and jfraustro at stsci.edu. If you are unsure about the suitability of a talk, or are a first time contributor, please get in contact with us and we can discuss it.
