Hi Francesca & Vandana,
I think a lot of what's missing right now for users is on the
implementation side, e.g. easy registry searches and better registry
metadata, it still seems to be a bit of a struggle for me to find which
datasets have which services available and what their URLs are (TOPCAT
is a big help for catalogs, but there's not much for images unless you
happen to already know where they are and the provider has good online
documentation).
One thing I did thing of though is treatment of ancillary images/data -
our pipelines tend to put out a lot of stuff that is related to a
primary science image (coverage/sensitivity maps, noise maps, pipeline
logs, radio in-band Taylor term and spectral index images etc) but from
my experience there's often not a good way to advertise them or select
from them in a VO service. Might need some work on the vocabulary end
etc., or just a guide for data producers on how to label them (e.g. with
dataproduct_subtype in obscore).
Also it might be a good time to bring up whether we can make any plans
for/start lobbying for legacy VO compliant tools that might go away when
people retire/run out of funding. I'm thinking particularly of ds9 and
TOPCAT, but I'm sure there are others.
Cheers,
Mark
