Dear Apps community,
We are planning a session entitled “AI and Applications” on the final day of the IVOA Interoperability Meeting in Perth, Australia, on Sunday, November 8, at 9:00 a.m. Perth local time (AWST, UTC+8).
The goal of this session is to have an informal discussion (as opposed to formal presentations) to explore the implications of using AI to develop and use astronomy applications, and to discuss how the IVOA can help facilitate these developments.
Potential topics about the role of IVOA in the era of AI, specifically the followings:
- Specs for AI-assisted code generation: IVOA standards, OpenAPI specifications, skills, etc
- Tools for AI-enabled access to IVOA services: Basic tools and interfaces that AI systems can discover and use to interact with Virtual Observatory services.
- AI in software development: Code generation and review, open-source development practices, and automated bots.
We hope to make this an opportunity to exchange ideas, learn from one another, and discuss how the community can collectively address emerging opportunities and challenges.
We would love to hear from you! Please let us know if you have a topic, experience, project, or idea that you would like to share during the session.
Cheers
Brigitta & Adrian
