Dear Apps,

Thank you again for all the participants at the HATS meeting yesterday. For those that couldn’t make it, you can find the recordings here: https://www.canfar.net/storage/vault/file/IVOA/Apps-WG/HATS-May142025.mp4. Neven’s slides are locate here: https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1qAV_ALuLEeFJ555GXnGBegYDLKwMdYCkF1Hoe8XvapA/edit?usp=sharing

The note is prepared in this repo: https://github.com/lincc-frameworks/hats-ivoa - please open issues for comments, questions or suggestions.

Finally, mark your calendar for a couple of presentations related to HATS in the Apps session at the next Iterop (tentative programme: https://wiki.ivoa.net/twiki/bin/view/IVOA/InterOpJune2025)

Best regards,
Adrian & Pierre

Thank you to all that responded.

Let’s have it on Wed, May 14, at 23:00 UTC when, to my surprise given the time of the day, the most of us are available. I will send a Zoom link on Wednesday, prior to the meeting. Please let me know if you have suggestions for the agenda.

Have a great week ahead,
Adrian

Dear App enthusiasts,

You might remember HATS (ex HiPSCat) from interesting presentations at previous Interop meetings. Hierarchical Adaptive Tiling Scheme (HATS) is a framework designed to facilitate scalable queries, filtering operations, and efficient retrieval across large astronomical surveys.

The groups that have collaborated on this novel technique would like to formalize it into an IVOA Note that would be presented at the Interop in Maryland next month. Prior to that they would like to give Apps a preview and a chance to express interest and comment on it. If you are interested in participating in a HATS Zoom meeting next week, please indicate your availability at https://www.when2meet.com/?30456918-AafbB in order to allow us to pick the most suitable time.

Thank you,
Pierre and Adrian
