Dear App members,

A *new version of the MocServer has been released *Monday 21 March
(/recall: the MOC Server has been deployed at CDS to retrieve as fast as
possible (a few ms) the list of astronomical data sets (catalogs,
surveys, ...) having at least one observation in a specifical sky
region. The default result is a data set ID list. It is notably used by
Aladin Desktop v9 for continously update the list of available HiPS
overlapping  the current user view.)/

Presently the MocServer contains *15 958 MOCs* + associated metadata
coming from VizieR, Simbad, and HiPS servers.

The main improvement of this version concerns the extension of the query
language (simpler and better boolean query support, wildcard support
even on metadata key words...). Also, the VizieR tables MOC accuracy
have been increased for providing MOCs at order 11 (<=> 1.7arcmin
resolution).

This service will be maintained in *operational level* by CDS. Feel free
to use it if you wish.

Examples:

  * *Ex1* - /IDs of all data sets intersecting a polygon/
    →

  * *Ex2* -/**IDs of all data sets with OIII & velocity measurements
    overlapping HST observations/

  * *Ex3* - /MOC of the intersection of SDSS coverage and GALEX coverage/
    → http://.../MocServer/query?ID=*SDSS9/g,*GR6/AIS/FUV&get=imoc
    <http://alasky.unistra.fr/MocServer/query?ID=*SDSS9/g,*GR6/AIS/FUV&get=imoc>

In line documentation is available via the MocServer base URL:

Several usage examples are also provided demonstrating the various
possibilities:

Feedback, suggestions, bug reports are welcome.
