Hello,

We  (François Bonnarel and Mireille Louys and myself) have written a
detailed note about DataLink.
This note starts from 2 real use-cases to lead to a proposal covering a
large panel of situations.
It is available at

One of this use-cases, this based on XMM spectra, can be tested online 
with Taphandle:

     1) Open 
http://saada.unistra.fr/taphandle?url=http%3A//saada.unistra.fr/3xmm/tap
     2) Open the EPIC node on the data tree.
     3) Clickclick on the EPIC_SPECTRUM node.
     4) CLick on any entry of the DataLink column (the rightest one).

Both scientific content and implementation issue of this demo are 
detailed in the note.
