VOSpec 5.0 has been released. It can be accessed from:

Main new features are listed here:


- Query results can be displayed as a Tree or a Table
==========================================
Option available to display the spectra matches list in either tree  
format (default) or table format. The switch button is available in  
the tool bar in the main VOSpec window (top-right button).

Sorting can be done in the Table view by clicking on the column headers.
Sorting in the Tree view can still be done: double clicking on the  
Server name in the spectra matches list will open a new window called  
"Tree Organizer".  The user can then choose the subtrees/branch  
ordering according to the available metadata (e.g. by instrument,  
band, spectrum format etc).

- Distance sorting
==============
A new "Distance" metadata field is calculated now for all SSA servers  
providing positional RA/DEC metadata parameters. The distance is  
measured from the target coordinates of the SSA query to the position  
of each retrieved spectrum.
Therefore, as with any other metadata field, users can now sort the  
spectra according to distance (in both table and tree format).

- Euro-VO registry
===============
SSA/PSA servers are now gathered from the new EURO-VO Full Harvestable  
VO Resource Registry, compliant with the IVOA Registry Interfaces WD  
1.0.

- Query SSA/TSA servers which are not in the registry (useful for tests)
========================================================
This option lets the user temporarily add an SSA or TSA server to the  
VOSpec Server Selector, by supplying its URL, and make queries to it.  
This feature is titled 'Add SSA/TSA locally' in the Server Selector.  
The user has to provide the endpoint URL, the type of service (SSA/ 
TSA), and a name. The service is added to the normal SSA servers list,  
and can be used normally during that query.
This feature lets the SSA server developer to fully test his server  
prior to adding it to the registry, as well as allowing users to use  
SSA resources which are not in the Registry.

-  New e-support tool
=================
ESA-VO Team will provide technical support via a new e-support portal  
which is accessed from Help -> Contact ESA-VO Team. Users can submit  
tickets, register, search frequently asked questions etc.


Please note the following:

- due to the amount of new functionalities, the User Manual is not yet  
updated. Will make it available soon.
- The SAMP Spectrum type is currently under definition, thus VOSpec  
5.0 is not yet SAMP-ed until the definitions are finalised.
- PSAP (Proto-SSAP servers)
VAO (NVO) registry is not providing registration for proto-SSA  
servers, which are supported by the EURO-VO registry. Should the Euro- 
VO Registry fail, the VOSpec tool looks into the VAO Registry. In this  
case, the PSAP servers will not appear.
