Hi Igor,
glad to see you are mentioning this.

In fact, due to our activity in the VO for radio astronomy since 2005
(e.g. archive for the IRAM 30m and MDSSC's DSS-63 70m antennas, or
RADAMS, the first data model for radio using current IVOA data models
-- see IVOA Current Modelling Efforts) as well as our work on galaxies
(AMIGA project, Analysis of the interstelar Medium of Isolated
GAlaxies,http://www.iaa.es/AMIGA.html) and expertise using GIPSY, our
PI, Lourdes Verdes-Montenegro, proposed last year to Thijs van der
Hulst (as PI of GIPSY development) a collaboration for making a VO-
aware, more user friendly version of GIPSY, that would also be fully
compatible with ALMA cubes. Our goals meshed well with their plans
for GIPSY, so we started to look for fundings. Recently Francois
Viallefond incorporated to this collaboration, as you mentioned.

One of our main goals in this collaboration is providing local
interoperability between GIPSY and other VO tools, initially via
PLASTIC, with SAMP support coming as soon as the specification is
mature (it might be mature enough well before our project starts.) The
implementation will allow for backward compatibility with older
PLASTIC-only packages.

So the Apps IG can rest assured that SAMP will be one of our
priorities in this development. We regret we couldn't make it to this
meeting, because talking face to face is always better, but feel free
to contact me or L. Verdes-Montenegro (lourdes at iaa.es) for any
question, clarification or suggestion on the VO part of this project.
