Hello,

We are happy to announce the release of VOMegaPlot v1.0 Beta, a Java based plotting tool, which has been specifically designed to handle large catalogues (containing millions of data points) present in the VOTable format.

The release is available for download from,
http://vo.iucaa.ernet.in/~voi/vomegaplot.htm

VOMegaPlot has the same look and feel as VOPlot and both these tools have certain functionality common in them. Following is the list of features that are available with VOMegaPlot v1.0 Beta,
1. Scatter Plot
2. Histogram
3. Density Plot
4. Projection Plot
5. Zoom and log functionality for the plots
6. Support for Overlay
7. Support for multiple resources and associated tables present in the VOTable xml file
8. Support for VOTable v 1.0 and 1.1

Please note that, for using a catalogue with VOMegaPlot, it needs to be pre-processed to produce a series of files. This is to be done just once for a given catalogue and the same set of files are used for plotting when it is invoked subsequently. The pre-processing procedure has been described in the README file, which is being provided with the release.

Pre-processed files for tycho catalogue are available for download from the above mentioned link. Alternatively, the files can also been downloaded from the following ftp location by logging in as an anonymous user.

ftp server: vo.iucaa.ernet.in
file location: pub/vosw/VOMegaPlot/SampleFiles/tychovotable.zip

We would be happy to receive your comments and suggestions. Please send them to <voindia at vo.iucaa.ernet.in>

Wishing you a very HAPPY NEW YEAR !!!

With Best Regards,
Nilesh Urunkar
