Extracting FITS image

I know sam sent you a mail also on his stuff but I should point out that that uses Tom's Java Fits library which you can get from
http://heasarc.gsfc.nasa.gov/docs/heasarc/fits/java/v0.9

this allows you to manipulate fits files in java but does not do the image rendering .
