Similar syntactic sugar on the Perl side has problems with the '.' in  
the mtypes, I neither asked for nor received quarter. You're always  
going to run up against problems like these, some standards are  
harder to implement in one language than another. That's life.

I don't particularly support the proposal, it seems to me that this  
change would set a bad precedent.
